The Young and the Restless viewers had an inkling Diane and Jack’s very loud, very public breakup was a bit of a put-on. They were pretty obviously only pretending to be at odds to trick Victor and prove to Kyle what an idiot he was for trusting The Mustache — again. It would appear that Kyle finally saw the light on the November 26 episode. But we’ve got our doubts. Here’s why.
Just like it was pretty obvious that Diane (Susan Walters) and Jack (Peter Bergman) were up to something, it was equally as obvious that, despite his protestations to the contrary, Kyle (Michael Mealor) had never fully gotten over being abandoned by his mother. It was an awful, unforgivable thing that Diane did to him…and his acceptance of her return always felt a little too easy.
Kyle had to be harboring megatons of resentment. All of which finally came out the day before Thanksgiving. Kyle said everything we’ve been waiting for him to say for over a year. It felt good to hear it. But also a little suspicious. Why now? When did Kyle become so honest? When did he become so self-aware?

What if, the same way that Diane and Jack played Kyle, Kyle is now playing them? What if Kyle’s apology was just him saying the things his parents expected to hear? So they would think the worst was behind them? Which is when Kyle plans to strike?
After all, Kyle Abbott is…oh, how to put this nicely…a petulant, spoiled, self-centered brat who, if he doesn’t get his own way, first threatens to burst into tears, then goes for a full-out tantrum. Is he really going to let his parents think they were right and he was wrong? Kyle is never wrong! He’ll show them!
