We realize that Chelsea, for the past year on The Young and the Restless Chelsea, has been working on herself and trying to move past her deep depression that led to her suicide attempt. She’s been doing such a job of it that it’s almost possible to forget the real Chelsea: A lifelong con artist who lies, rapes, and even kills without so much as a twinge of conscience. But Chelsea can’t fool us! We know what she’s really up to — and who she’s got as her co-conspirator.
In the September 12 episode, Billy told her he couldn’t move past her cheating with Adam. However, he did sound commited to helping Connor.
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to become a con artist. She was raised to be one from birth, courtesy of her mother, Anita (Catherine Bach). So why do we assume Chelsea hasn’t raised her precious Connor (Judah Mackey) similarly?
Oh, we believe Chelsea loves her son and thinks he’s a special child. All the more reason to raise him up in the family business—what better way to demonstrate her love? This OCD storyline had so many holes from the beginning that we couldn’t figure out what its point was. But it makes much more sense if it was all part of a con Chelsea and Connor were pulling together! After all, Connor did live with Anita for a while recently…

So what does Chelsea want? Well, Adam (Mark Grossman), obviously, for one. Hasn’t this crisis with Connor brought them closer together? And they absolutely had to sleep together—it was for Connor’s mental health!
Professional liar Chelsea being unable to keep that secret makes a lot more sense if we think of it as just a part of the plan. Of course, she had to spill to Billy (Jason Thompson). And oh, she is just so, so, SO upset that he blabbed to Sally (Courtney Hope). The last thing Chelsea wanted was to break up her ex and his current love. She is just beside herself with guilt over it. Sure…
But Adam is only a secondary consideration. Billy is the true target. He feels so bad about breaking up with her. Especially once she reminded him that dear, sweet, innocent, vulnerable Connor is so upset about it. He’s blaming himself.
Can Billy think of anything he—no, she, of course, Chelsea means she—could do to make the dear lad feel better? Maybe Billy could give Chelsea some money. A whole lot of money. To take care of Connor. And to show that he cares. Once she and Connor are set for life, she’s sure his symptoms will go away. In fact, Chelsea can almost guarantee it.
