Linden Ashby is back in The Young and the Restless credits as Cameron, and he showed up in what was probably Sharon’s hallucinations on the August 1 episode. Sure, he could be a ghost or just a figment of her imagination, the way Cassie has been recently. But what’s the fun in that? Wouldn’t it be a lot more soapy if Cameron were somehow still alive…and in cahoots with the last person anybody expected?
Same as Before
Cameron has cheated death before and returned to terrorize Sharon (Sharon Case), so why not do it yet again? Sure, his will was read and he left Sharon his company. So what? It could have all been part of a plot. An evil plot. A devious plot. An evil, devious plot that Cameron cooked up with…Diane (Susan Walters).
Behind the Scenes
Hear us out, hear us out! Sure, it would be adorable because Ashby and Walters are married in real life. But it would also make sense, story-wise. Ever since Diane returned to Genoa City, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) have been foaming at the mouth, swearing that she was up to no good.
They were seemingly proven wrong. But what if they were actually right? (Phyllis still thinks she is, and Nikki isn’t far behind, based on what she said to Jack [Peter Bergman] the other day.)
The Play’s the Thing
Diane is now co-CEO of Jabot. She accepted the job reluctantly. She needed Jack and Kyle (Michael Mealor) to talk her into it. And she was, oh, so upset when Kyle recently stomped off in a hissy fit about how she’s bossing him around like she’s his boss or something.
But what if this is all part of Diane’s long-game plan? She marries Jack, manipulates Kyle into alienating his father with his spoiled brat behavior (how hard was that to do?), and then Diane leaves Jack—taking half of Jabot with her.
She then connects Jabot with Cameron’s company, the valuable assets of which he still owns, while dumping the failing parts on Sharon so he can start fresh. It’s brilliant. And so soapy. Could it actually happen?
