T
he surprise departure of Scott Elrod (Joe) left fans shocked. The show didn’t announce his Young and the Restless departure and characters uttered only a few throwaway sentences about what happened to him.
Soap Shows wanted to know what you think about this sudden exit, so we asked and you let us know in no uncertain terms.
Out of 6,000 votes, the majority of you are happy to see Joe gone. With over 60% of the vote, you’re thrilled he can no longer cause trouble in GC. You didn’t like bad boy Joe from the start and after learning about his abusive history with Avery, seeing him fake a spine injury, and watching him destroy Cane and Lily’s marriage, you’re more than happy to show him the door.
A smaller 25% wish he’d stayed. Sure, he was a lot of trouble, but this bad guy sure shook things up. Despite his flaws, you loved seeing him on your screen. Those piercing blue eyes and rugged good looks made your heart melt.
The final 15% just don’t care. You didn’t like Joe, but you didn’t dislike him either. Whether he was there or not didn’t affect you, so his leaving doesn’t either.
Now that Joe’s gone, fans are clamoring for Avery’s return. Although there are no immediate plans for Jessica Collins to reprise the role, we all know that you never say never in the soap world.
