As The Young and the Restless has run out of original shows for the time being during the coronavirus crisis, CBS is airing a classic episode that will take viewers back to 1996. Today, YR viewers are being treated to Chris and Paul’s honeymoon on the tropical island of Nevis!

The Young and the Restless Throws It Back

The episode also features newlyweds Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon preparing to tell their families that they’re expecting their first baby together! Also, Cole (J. Eddie Peck) and Victoria (Heather Tom) are living on the Newman estate in the tack house while Nina (Tricia Cast) and Ryan (Scott Reeves) are living in the apartment across from where Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) once lived.

Ryan, however, can’t stop thinking about Victoria and vice versa. Watch for Miguel (Anthony Peña) and Doris (Karen Hensel) to appear in the episode, too.

As veteran fans recall, the path to romance for Chris and Paul wasn’t an easy one. First, Chris suffered a bad breakup with Danny; Paul had bid farewell to Lauren (Tracey Bregman), and the two found a new life together. “It was a three or four-year build,” Davidson told TV Insider.

“Bill [Bell, Y&R’s co-creator, head writer, and senior executive producer] was a master at building to a climax like the honeymoon and from there it would break off into three or four different stories,” Davidson continues. “Characters would go onto different rivers of their own. There wasn’t really a letdown after a climax. It was like going to a different altitude.”

The couple’s honeymoon was marred by the presence of Chris’s rival Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). “This show will remind people of the longtime feud between Phyllis and Christine,” Bell said. “Michelle was telling me recently there’s nothing quite like it. It’ll be fun for newer viewers who may not know the true hatred and annoyance she feels that Christine is happy.”

Next week, YR will feature a series of episodes featuring the late, great Jeanne Cooper (Katherine). The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
