The Young and the Restless fans have loved Tricia Cast ever since she debuted as Nina Webster, a spunky, unwed mother back in 1986. Fans are now sending out heartfelt messages of support as the Emmy-winner has suffered a deep personal loss.
A Sad Loss For Tricia Cast
Bat McGrath, a musician and t husband, has passed away from cancer. According to the ABC affiliate in Rochester, NY, 13WHAM, McGrath died at his Nashville-area home. He was 73 years old.
McGrath began his musical career with a group called The Showstoppers in 1964 as a teen. Later, Columbia records signed the group to a contract. McGrath performed along with Don Potter and the pair released a record for Epic. Next, McGrath and Potter opened Hylie Morris’ Alley, a club in Rochester, NY.
He later moved to Nashville to focus on more songwriting, but what he enjoyed most was performing in front of a live audience. In Nashville, he went on to write songs that were recorded by Kenny Rogers and others.
According to WXXI, McGrath was diagnosed with cancer last December following a colonoscopy. He and Cast, who wed in 2000, made the decision to not go with a treatment that reportedly would have compromised his quality of life.
In addition to Cast, McGrath is survived by two children and five grandchildren. Cast told 13WHAM that she hopes to visit Rochester soon to honor her husband’s life and musical career.
Soap Hub joins Cast’s and McGrath’s family, friends and fans from both the soap opera and music world in sending deep condolences at this time. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
