The Young and the Restless Star Ptosha Storey Meets Peter Bergman

Ptosha Storey joined The Young and the Restless late last year as Naya, mother to Amanda and the late Hilary. The actress is new to soaps, but she’s quite familiar with the beloved genre, having grown up watching daytime serials.

Recently, the actress posed for a selfie with an actor she admires and is an admirer of — one of YR’s longest-running stars. “Look who I ran into on the set of The Young and The Restless yesterday,” Storey posted. “THE soap opera icon, Mr. Peter Bergman aka Jack Abbott.

“Man, I grew up watching Peter on both All My Children and The Young and The Restless throughout my childhood, and now to be working on the same set as he … Wonderfully surreal!” Storey adds. “Full circle moment indeed. Truly honored! 🙏🏾 #actor #theyoungandtherestless #cbs #naya #nayabenedict #bookedandblessed.”

As Bergman’s fans know, his career in daytime began in 1979 when he was cast as Dr. Cliff Warner, a good guy, on the ABC soap opera All My Children. He played that role for a decade, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. A new writing regime came in (which didn’t last long, ironically) and Cliff and his true love Nina (Taylor Miller) exited the canvas.

Almost immediately after leaving Pine Valley, Bergman traveled 3,000 miles across the country to test for the part of Jack on YR. YR’s Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) thought he’d be perfect for the part. Bergman landed the role and was on air in Genoa City before the year ended. He’s won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Smilin’ Jack.

For now, Storey hasn’t shared screen-time with Bergman, however, it’s always possible that that could change. In addition to her role on YR, Storey appeared on Empire and also appears on the BET series The Oval. Created by Tyler Perry, who serves as executive producer/writer/director, The Oval tells the story of a family placed in the White House by people of power. The show highlights the personal lives of the staff who run the iconic residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Storey plays the role of Nancy, wife to Richard (played by Javon Johnson).

Last month, The Oval was renewed for a third season. The Oval airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on BET. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
