Time will tell how Abby’s journey to have a baby plays out on The Young and the Restless. Off-screen, Abby’s portrayer, Melissa Ordway, is a happy mother of two darling daughters!
Coronation Day
The actress recently took to social media to celebrate her first child. “HAPPY CORONATION DAY, Olivia!!!” Ordway posted on Instagram along with some family photos, which can be seen in the post below. “Today we celebrate our 4th Coronation day (our adoption ‘gotcha day’).
“Words cannot express how thankful I am that God chose me to be your mom,” the actress adds. “You were always meant to be ours… I grew you in my heart. 2/27 just made it official! We love you more than words, Olivia Christine! 💛.”
Olivia was born on April 30, 2016. And Ordway’s second daughter, Sophie Jolie, was born on December 9, 2017. Dad, of course, is Ordway’s husband, Justin Gaston (ex-Ben, Days of our Lives), who stepped in to play Chance last year on YR as Abby and Chance were tying the knot.
Surrogacy
Currently, Abby and Chance are living apart as he was called off on a secret assignment related to his work as a law official. However, the couple’s plan to have a child isn’t slowing down even though both Abby and Chance have biological hurdles in front of them.
The solution? Find a surrogate to carry the baby and a donor to father the child. Rather than use anonymous helpers, Abby has enlisted Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to carry the child, and Devon (Bryton James) will be the biological dad.
Sharon unknowingly gave birth to twins — Cassie and Mariah. She was later reunited with Cassie, who died after suffering injuries in a car accident. Years later, Sharon learned that the nurse who helped deliver her babies stole one of them (Mariah).
Meanwhile, Devon grew up in the foster care system and was later reunited with his mother Yolanda (AKA Candy, AKA Harmony, played by Debbi Morgan) and father Tucker McCall (Stephen Nichols). The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
