Max Page, best known to soap fans for his run as little Reed Hellstrom on The Young and the Restless, underwent surgery this week so doctors could replace his pacemaker. Now, the actor’s mom Jennifer is giving an update on her son’s status following the procedure.

Max Page Health Update

Great news! “Hospital & Home!” posted Jennifer Page, Max’s mom. “Max had a successful surgery today and once again he is fully charged – grateful for a new pacemaker! Great news is he’s sleeping soundly in his own bed!”

Page was born with tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect. He has undergone over a dozen heart surgeries, the first when he was only three months old. The actor has been a champion for other young patients. He’s spoken before politicians in Washington D.C. as part of Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Day. Page passionately pushes for funds to be raised to help people like him.

“I hope that I can be the face for healthcare and show them that kids have health problems and that we didn’t do anything to deserve this,” Page told Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles web page in 2017. “It just happened to us. And if the funding gets cut, there might not be the care there for me and other kids.

“For me, it’s important to share stories — I want the Senators to put a face to children’s health care,” Page adds. “I tell them my story; what surgeries I have had and how much I need my doctors, now and in the future. It’s a way to bring awareness to kids’ health. I want to be the face of children’s health.”

By sharing his story, Page is able to give hope to other youngsters who are facing similar medical challenges. “I encourage [other kids] that they are going to feel better after surgery and answer as many questions as I can,” he says. “Many are getting their first surgery or the first that they will remember. I tell them what it’ll be like after. I’ve been through it and know what works good. For me, I rest and have core group friends and family and get texts and FaceTime with them.”

Soap Hub joins Page’s supporters in wishing him a full recovery from his procedure. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
