The Young and the Restless star Lexie Stevenson (Mattie) recently revealed a painful secret. She suffers from endometriosis, a disease of the uterus that can be quite debilitating.
In a her blog post, the actress described the pain this condition can put her in as she tries to live her normal, day to day life.
“It causes an immense of amount of pain that has landed me…in emergency rooms.”
She goes on to describe the condition as being akin to having hundreds of blisters on one’s organs only there is nothing that can be done to ease the pain. “Bottom line is it sucks…a lot,” Stevenson added.
Stevenson said that she needed a morphine drip to get through a recent flare up. “This is not my first time nor will it be my last. I was in and out of the hospital for 4-5 years before I was diagnosed with endometriosis.”
Thankfully, she has found some relief recently, despite surgery last year to take care of complications from the condition. She says removing gluten from her diet has helped her manage the pain.
She plans on taking part in a march on Saturday, March 24 to bring awareness to endometriosis, a disease that affects more than 10 million women per year.
Soap Hub wishes Stevenson the best and hopes that a cure for the condition is quickly found.
