There may be hope for Kola fans after all. The Young and the Restless’ Summer turned up the winner in the Kyle-love sweepstakes recently, but now there’s been a development that could change ALL of that involving actress Hunter King.

Hunter King: Primetime Star?

According to Deadline, King has landed a new pilot for ABC. The single-camera comedy is titled Prospect and comes from I Hate My Teenage Daughter creators Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer along with director/producer Randall Einhorn.

In Prospect, King’s character, Abigail Lansing, is “proper, smart, a little awkward and chatty, but always positive, friendly and hopeful, with a healthy dose of nineteenth-century feminism. Abigail is a young woman from Boston who is thrilled to be able to set off on her own adventure as a school teacher in the western prairie town of Prospect.

“Somewhat starry-eyed, she envisions herself preparing adorable young children for their future with an education. Abigail discovers when she gets to Prospect that it’s not going to be what she thought it was.

“For one thing, she has to teach adult men, not children, and her living situation is a little more rustic and awkward than she expected. Abigail has to re-think some of her expectations but decides with characteristic spunk and optimism that there’s good work to be done here in Prospect– on her own terms.”

What would this mean for Summer if the pilot gets picked up? The last time King worked on a primetime show, Life in Pieces, she was able to work out a deal where CBS, which aired the sitcom, could schedule things so she could do both series.

It’s not as likely that a rival network would let King out to keep playing Summer. And while Life in Pieces was an ensemble drama, Prospect sounds like it’ll eat up a lot of King’s schedule.

The fall lineups aren’t announced until May so viewers will have to wait a while to see how this affects the ongoing triangle with Summer, Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Lola (Sasha Calle). Stay tuned. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
