Doug Davidson fans have supported the actor for his entire career, but never as much as when they learned that the actor was taken off contract on The Young and the Restless.
Good news! While there have been no announcements that Davidson’s coming back onto the show as a contract player, he is making an upcoming appearance on the program.
Davidson shared a post on Instagram several days ago about more warm weather being on its way to sunny Los Angeles. In the comments section, a poster reported that the Daytime Emmy-winner will be back on air on Friday, October 9.
“Doug when you coming back to y@r.” posted @mikeydol. “It ain’t the same without you. You are the best cop on the show. 😁”
“Everyone he will be making an appearance on Young and restless [on Friday],” posted @roseannaortiz8, “be sure to watch that episode!!! FYI😁😍👍 I will be tuning in just this one time just to see him💜.”
“So handsome!” posted @regalpomscanada. “Miss you soooooo much❤️ Pray🙏 you come back!” Added @kpp61: “You have the kindest eyes. ❤️”
Davidson joined YR in 1978 in a minor role, but when the show expanded to an hour two years later, then-head writer/executive producer William J. Bell, the show’s creator, fleshed out two families — the Abbotts and the Williamses. Paul’s position on the canvas expanded. He met and fell in love with Lauren Fenmore (Tracey Bregman). He moved on to a romance with Cassandra (Nina Arvesen) before finding the love of his life, Christine (Lauralee Bell).
After years of being a private eye and helping out cases involving Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Davidson’s character became Chief of Police at the Genoa City Police Department. Paul’s most famous case as a private eye was the George Rawlins (Jonathan Farwell) murder mystery. Paul had to fake his death and began to mistrust whether or not Cassandra had a hand in her husband’s murder. During this time, Davidson’s popularity rose as did the show’s ratings.
What’s bringing Paul back to TV screens later this week? Stay tuned to find out! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
