Camryn Grimes is trading in Mariah’s wardrobe for military fatigues as The Young and the Restless star pops over for a guest spot on one of CBS’ nighttime procedural dramas.
Camryn Grimes: From The Young and the Restless To NCIS
Watch for Grimes to appear on tonight’s episode of NCIS in an episode titled Wide Awake. The actress plays Marine Corporal Laney Alimonte, who, according to evidence, may have murdered her neighbor while being treated for insomnia by a hypnotherapist.
Laney and Mariah differ from each other “by leaps and bounds,” Grimes told TV Insider, adding it’s a “nice challenge” playing someone different.
NCIS Character
“[Laney] is struggling in more ways than one. Her struggle is brought to life during the episode as more is revealed. Your heart breaks for her as mine did. At this point, Mariah is put-together and has her wits about her, unlike Laney, whose whole world is falling apart.”
This isn’t Grimes’ first visit to the NCIS franchise. She appeared on NCIS: Los Angeles in 2010 as the character Diane Farley in an episode titled Special Delivery. “I’m not playing the same role,” she confirms. “Even though I think the NCIS shows exist in the same universe, apparently, when it comes to [being a guest star] you can do all of them!”
Back in Genoa City
Recently, Mariah and girlfriend Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) has been relatively conflict-free on YR and that suits Grimes just fine. “People go through [more carefree times] in life,” she points out. “It’s no surprise that we’d mirror that in a show where you see characters every single day. You’re living their lives along with them. Characters go through struggles and then, they don’t.”
Is Laney guilty or is there an explanation for what happened? If there is, count on the NCIS team to get to the real truth! Laura San Giacomo (Just Shoot Me and Pretty Woman), who plays Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) therapist Dr. Grace Confalon, returns again in the episode as well. NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays also on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
