The Young and the Restless celebrated its 50th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, viewers can watch a special primetime event commemorating the soap’s golden anniversary tonight on CBS or Paramount+.

Y&R 50th Anniversary Primetime Special

Normally, fans tune in to see The Young and the Restless five days a week on CBS. However, tonight there’s a big primetime special, “The Young and the Restless 50th Anniversary Celebration, An Entertainment Tonight Special.”

The show features special footage and interviews with cast members from the past five decades of the daytime drama. Plus, you’ll be treated to current exclusive interviews with show regulars. Perhaps the most intriguing thing is the promised never-before-seen footage from the “Entertainment Tonight” vault.

Among the moments that the ET primetime episode touches on are the many iconic weddings in Genoa City history. Plus, a look at the deep rivalries and epic love stories spawned by the soap. Additionally, the special remembers both Jeanne Cooper and Kristoff St. John, who portrayed Katherine Chancellor and Neil Winters, respectively, with a touching tribute.

Y&R premiered on March 26, 1973, airing for 30 minutes until February 4, 1980, when it went to one hour. The soap has remained number one in total viewers for 35 years.

You can watch Y&R in primetime during a special Entertainment Tonight hosted by Nischelle Turner. The big event is tonight, Monday, March 27, from 8 – 9 pm ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+. If you miss the initial airing, the special will be available for on-demand viewing on Paramount+.

Meanwhile, stay tuned to the daytime soap all through this week as the big Genoa City Bicentennial celebration gala continues with special guests like Michael Damian (Danny) and Tricia Cast (Nina) still to come. Plus, continue to enjoy the returns of Barbara Crampton (Leanna) and Veronica Redd (Mamie). There may be even more surprises ahead.
