Daniel Goddard may not be making his on-screen home Genoa City anymore, but, in real life, the former star of The Young and the Restless is definitely calling the United States his home, as she recently became a U.S. Citizen.

Congratulations, Daniel Goddard

Early on Friday, the actor tweeted: “TODAY… I will stand side by side with my fellow immigrants from all around the world, who came to this incredible country because we all love & believe in America! TODAY… I will say the ‘Pledge of Allegiance!’ TODAY… I will become an American! #GodBlessAmerica.”

Later, Goddard updated his social media with a video of him reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Born in Sydney, Australia, Goddard was on his way to getting a degree in finance when he switched over to the Ensemble Actors Studio. His leading man good looks made him a natural to be cast on the Aussie soap Home and Away in the role of Eric Phillips.

He came to Hollywood to model for clients such as Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. Daniel Goddard headed back to Australia after being cast as Dar, the title character in the syndicated TV show Beastmaster. The series aired from 1999 to 2002. (Ironically, Marc Singer, ex-Chat, YR, played the original Beastmaster.)

Goddard returned to the U.S. and guested on such series as Wild Card and Monk. In 2007, he landed the role of Ethan “Cane” Ashby on The Young and the Restless. Goddard started out as the presumed “real” Phillip Chancellor III, but that turned out to be a ruse.

Cane and the real Phillip (Thom Beirdz) were in cahoots to have Cane pose as Phillip. Later, Goddard was paired with Christel Khalil (Lily) and the pair shot to supercouple stardom. Last fall, Goddard shared he was exiting YR.

The actor and his wife, Rachel, have two sons, Ford and Sebastian. Soap Hub congratulates Goddard on his U.S. citizenship. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
