Viewers have loved Phyllis Summers since day one partly because she doesn’t hesitate to get right up in people’s faces and let them know exactly what she’s thinking. But now The Young and the Restless star — along with her fellow castmates — are staying apart, especially in between takes.

Michelle Stafford: Playing It Safe

“Back on the set…6 feet apart…with masks,” Michelle Stafford, who has played Phyllis on and off since 1994, posted on Instagram. “Hopefully you all know by now that we’ll be back on the air Monday, August 10th! I must acknowledge and give so much love to the producers and production staff for jumping through SO many hoops to make this happen.

“For working their asses off to make sure we are ALL safe, that the actors and crew are protected, that we are tested all the time, that everything is sanitized…” the actress adds. “I mean, I could eat off the floor if I wanted to… but, ya know, I don’t want to cuz that would just be weird, everyone else eating at tables and me eating on the floor… I digress. I love all of my friends at #YR its been amazing to see them and work with them again! I want to kiss them and hug them but I can’t… So, I just curtsy now.❤️ Mask by @rparucha & @keepitcoveredmasks #YReturns.”

Stafford’s hashtag reveals that her mask is made by Robert Parucha, who has popped up in recent classic episodes as Victor’s (Eric Braeden) brother, Matt Miller. Parucha reprised his role as Matt earlier this year when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) threw a bash for Victor, honoring the 50th anniversary of Newman Enterprises.

A staple on the show in the mid-1980s, Parucha popped up in Genoa City in 2003 when he came to tell Victor that their father, Albert Miller (the late George Kennedy), was in a facility, prompting Victor and Nicholas (Joshua Morrow) to visit him. The dramatic showdown in which Victor blasted his derelict father for walking out on his family is one of Braeden’s most famous scenes. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
