Young and the Restless’ Melody Thomas Scott Celebrates Her Birthday

Life is always complicated for The Young and the Restless‘ perpetually troubled Nikki Newman, and Nikki’s latest battle with booze is no exception. Luckily, performer Melody Thomas Scott’s life is far less chaotic. And today, this talented performer is celebrating a major milestone.

That’s because she was born on April 18, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, which means that this fan-favorite actress is turning 68 years old today! Scott’s career began in 1964 when she appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s psychological thriller, Marnie.

Guest roles in television programs such as Wagon Train, Ironside, Code R, and Fish followed, as did small roles in feature films like The Beguiled, Posse, and The Shootist.

In 1977, Melody Thomas Scott appeared in two episodes of The Waltons (as Darlene Jarvis) as well as the horror picture The Car. Two years later, she joined the cast of Y&R. She has played troubled teenager turned stripper turned society maven Nicole “Nikki” Reed Newman ever since.

A sampling of Scott’s other acting credits includes appearances in Charlie’s Angels, Makin’ It, The Rockford Files, Hotel, My Name Is Earl, and The Crazy Ones, as well as lead roles in television movies such as The Scarlet O’Hara War and The Paradise Virtue. She is also known for her small role in the horror-comedy Piranha.

Scott has been married to prolific daytime executive producer Edward Scott since 1985. Together they share one daughter, Elizabeth, and they have raised a further two (Jennifer, Edward’s daughter from a previous marriage, and Alexandra Danielle, Scott’s daughter with late makeup artist Carlos Yeaggy).

Scott, an avid fan and admirer of the late Lucille Ball, has been a board member of the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center (located in Jamestown, New York) since 2002.
