Though the bad is considerable — her mother is still at war with her mother-in-law; her marriage is pretty much over — there is still much for The Young and the Restless‘ Summer Newman to celebrate, and the same is true for her portrayer, Allison Lanier.

And that’s because she was born on August 4, 1990, in North Carolina, which means that this talented, new-to-daytime thespian is turning 33 years old today! Determined to pursue a career in acting and modeling, Lanier moved to New York City and completed a two-year performance course at the famed William Esper Studio.
In her career, 2017 proved to be a banner year for Lanier, who racked up her first acting credit — Megan in It Happened in L.A. — and landed a recurring role on Red Oaks, an Amazon Prime original comedy.
Subsequently, Lanier starred in the feature films Fish Bone (as Bella) and Mia (as femme fatale Anna). She made her Young and the Restless debut on May 17, 2022.

Summer, last played by Hunter King, was born onscreen on December 19, 2006, and aged considerably in 2009 when Samantha Bailey assumed the role.
The once-maligned character — whose dramas have included a near-fatal exposure to peanuts, a stint as an unrepentant cyberbully, and a Lolita-inspired plot that saw her pursue her mother’s boyfriend — has matured over the years, and since Lanier’s inhabitation of the role, Summer has been presented as (step)mother courage personified.
