Just a Summer Fling? Young and the Restless’ Beth Maitland Dishes On Traci’s Romance

The Young and the Restless veteran will be celebrating her 42nd anniversary. Traci finally has a hot new romance and fans are loving it. Beth Maitland admitted that it wasn’t supposed to last longer than the summer.

Summer Love

In an extensive interview with Woman’s World, Maitland reflected on her character’s trajectory. (See what she had to say about Traci’s storylines.) Traci formed a connection with Dr. Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins). Then, it was revealed that he had an evil twin named Martin.

Finally, Traci and Alan could move forward after Martin’s death. However, it wasn’t meant to last. Maitland mentioned that it was only meant “to be just a little summer thing.” Unfortunately, their relationship took a backseat to the other storylines. Maitland hopes that Traci and Alan’s romance will be revisited at some point.

“It lost a little steam while other stories were being told, which is how soaps work. I’m hoping it’ll build back up again, and that we don’t just hear about it off-camera!” she said.

Seeing Double

Y&R viewers have wondered whether Traci was dating Martin instead. Maitland is conflicted about the idea. But what a great plot twist it would be if she ended up being wooed by the enemy.

Still, viewers would love to see Traci have her own happy ending. “And I’m just in love with the good twin, so I’m hoping that’s what we get. I want everything to turn out great for Traci, for a change,” Maitland said.
