It looks like Steve Kent is out as the Senior Executive Vice President of Programming at Sony Pictures Television. This unexpected change may shake things up for both Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless since the media group oversees both soap operas.
Soap Opera Digest reported that Kent is no longer with Sony, despite him appearing on Thursday, April 11 at a big celebration for DAYS’ 15,000 episode. (Soap Hub reported about Kent at that event here.) Reportedly, Kent’s last day was Friday, April 12.
Currently, there’s no news on who stepped into the position Kent vacated or what led to his leaving, or what it might mean for DAYS or Y&R. Kent has a history with Sony, previously serving as Senior Executive Vice President of International Productions at Sony Pictures Television International. He also served as Santa Barbara‘s supervising producer from 1984 to 1993.
