The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford is one of daytime TV’s famous leading ladies. Her career has spanned three decades and earned her many awards. Stafford’s acting career wouldn’t have been possible without the influence of a special person.
Sister’s Inspiration
Stafford’s acting career began in 1990 on the short-lived FOX primetime soap Tribes. But it wouldn’t be until 1994 that she would land the role of Phyllis on Y&R. Although the role was supposed to be short-term, Stafford wowed the producers and Phyllis became a permanent character.
No matter what storyline Phyllis is in, Stafford delivers with her performances. Her work has won her numerous awards, along with praise from fans and critics.
Stafford’s successful acting career might not have happened without inspiration from her older sister Janine. During a Q&A on the Y&R Insider YouTube channel, the actress credited her sister with jumpstarting her love of acting.
”I think the reason, really, that I’m an actor is because of my sister,” Stafford said. “Because my sister loved movies, particularly old movies. So, she was older and I couldn’t change the channel, back in the day when we changed channels. But she had control of the TV and so I had to watch it with her. And I learned from these great actors, and I think…I really think that’s the reason. I never answered it like that before, but I think that’s why I’m an actor. And I just always wanted to do it.”
Thanks to watching all those old movies, Stafford is now one of Y&R’s top actresses. There’s no slowing down for the actress since Phyllis is continuously in major storylines.
Although she has lots of fans, her sister and family are her biggest supporters, and proud of the star’s work and accomplishments.
