Courtney Hope’s character Sally has had many romances on The Young and the Restless. Sally’s relationships definitely garner much attention. Unfortunately, her newest pairing is sparking more negativity than positive reactions.
‘Silly’ Fan Backlash
Sally has been paired with many top Genoa City men, including Jack (Peter Bergman), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Adam (Mark Grossman). Out of all her suitors, Adam was her most popular pairing. Dubbed Ally by fans, Adam and Sally’s sizzling chemistry and love story made them Y&R‘s hottest new couple.
Unfortunately, their relationship ended in more heartbreak when Adam cheated on Sally with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). A heartbroken Sally wasn’t lonely for long. She found love with Chelsea’s ex-boyfriend Billy (Jason Thompson).
It wasn’t a surprise that Sally and Billy aka Silly ended up together. Usually, the exes of cheating partners hook up on soap operas. But now that Silly are officially a couple, it’s receiving mixed reactions.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Hope said she expected the fan backlash.
“Everyone’s got who they love,” says Hope. “And I think, you know, if they loved the couple that each of us were with before, they’re going to [be] screaming from the rooftops about that. They weren’t going to be happy about this! And I think that’s natural.”
Although Sally and Billy aren’t clicking with fans, Hope believes that with time, things will change.
“I love seeing people flip too. That’s super fun,” the actress declared. “Like, they’re super gung-ho about one thing, and then you have one episode, and all of a sudden, they’re like, your biggest fan!”
Sally and Billy’s relationship is heating up fast with the couple’s romantic trip to Paris. But like many soap couples, drama is on the way. Will Silly survive their obstacles, or is this one relationship doomed to fail?
