Justin Hartley and Sofia Pernas didn’t interact all that much when they were on The Young and the Restless as, respectively, Adam Newman and Marisa Sierras. However, the real-life husband and wife duo are getting screen time together on Hartley’s new CBS series Tracker.
Together On Screen Again
Pernas spoke to TV Insider about guesting on her hubby’s series Tracker (read about the show’s early renewal here) in which he plays Colter Shaw, a lone-wolf survivalist who roams the country as a reward seeker, helping solve mysteries as he deals with his own family issues. In an episode titled “Lexington,” set to air Sunday, March 24 on CBS, Shaw teams up with fellow “tracker” Billie (played by Pernas) to help track down a missing racehorse.
Pernas describes Billie as a woman with a “chip on her shoulder.” She does her best to keep her vulnerabilities a secret. “I love when people — it’s that thing when you don’t give fully into the emotion and you’re watching someone get choked by the tears rather than fully give into them.”
Adding to the dynamic between Colter and Billie is that they crossed paths a while ago. Billie may not have played her cards right “but the audience sees she’s not all bad and there’s a reason why she did all the things that she did, and that’s what helps give layers to her,” Pernas notes.
The actress hesitates to state which of them is better at tracking. “[W]e both have our respective bag of skills,” she says. “He’s very good at doing what he does, which is legitimate survivalist stuff–finding footprints and maybe it rained on peat moss, like Aragon from Lord of the Rings kind of stuff. [Billie] is more of a tech person. [She goes] for the higher paying jobs…”
Watch for Billie and Colter to banter a bit — but that’s all due to how Billie tries to hide that chip on her shoulder. “[S]he’s teasing him and poking him and provoking him and trying to get a reaction out of him,” Sofia Pernas previews.
Tracker airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
