The soap opera ratings are for the week ending January 1. How did the soaps do in the ratings in the final week of 2020? Soap Hub’s got the answers!
Soap Opera Ratings
In households, The Young and the Restless ranked No. 1 among serials with a 2.39; The Bold and the Beautiful came in second place with a 2.05 rating. General Hospital placed third with a 1.59. Days of our Lives came in fourth with a 1.20.
Each ratings point equals 1.210 million viewers so, that meant YR had 2.9 million viewers, BB had 2.48 million viewers, GH had 1.92 million viewers, and DAYS had 1.45 million viewers.
In the coveted demographic of Women 18-49 (that’s the one advertiser’s target), the rankings were similar. YR was first with .47, GH was second with .42, BB was third with .38, and DAYS was fourth with .34.
What stories were driving viewers to their screens last week? (Remember, there were some holiday pre-emptions on CBS and ABC.)
The Young and the Restless
On YR, Sharon (Sharon Case) and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) wed at Society in an intimate ceremony, followed by an equally intimate, but also festive reception.
The Bold and the Beautiful
On BB, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) implored Liam (Scott Clifton) not to tell Hope (Annika Noelle) that they’d been intimate after he erroneously believed she had been unfaithful. Later, Steffy dropped a New Year’s Eve bombshell that she was pregnant and either Liam or Finn (Tanner Novlan) is the dad!
General Hospital
Over on GH, Sonny (Maurice Benard) remained missing since his final showdown with the late Julian (William deVry). Viewers were treated to a scene between Jackie (Kim Delaney) and Laura (Genie Francis) — the two characters first interacted 40 (!) years ago when Jackie interviewed Laura as the new Miss Star Eyes.
Days of our Lives
Finally, on DAYS, Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) named their twins Carver and Julia after their grandparents Abe (James Reynolds) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). Jennifer (Cady McClain) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) put past conflicts aside to have a talk.
