The Young and the Restless 13,000th episode is just days away, and anticipation is at an all-time high. The milestone moment features Devon and Abby’s wedding. Soap Hub spoke with Bryton James ahead of the big moment.
James’ Devon has been in Genoa City for two decades. He’s thrilled to be part of such a high point on the CBS daytime drama. “It’s been 20 years of being on this canvas, which is incredible, to begin with, but to know that they’re, they’re making Devon and Abby’s wedding the focal point of this 13,000th episode coming up is incredible,” James said. “It’s an incredible honor to be a part of it like that.”
The wedding takes place at a familiar location — the new original Newman ranch. Of course, there are lots of familiar faces returning for the big event. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Jill (Jess Walton) will be on hand to watch Devon and Abby say “I do.” Plus, Harmony (Chene’ Lawson) and Ana (Loren Lott) will also be there as Devon takes this big step.
James teased that something big would go down at the wedding. “Aside from the extremely romantic ceremony, there’s going to be some big twists and turns.” Of course, the show has several big possibilities on the canvas for such a turn, and we can’t wait to see it.
Another thing we can’t wait to hear is the potential for some beautiful music. James indicated there is a good chance that Lott or somebody else (like pop star Tessa [Cait Fairbanks]) would use their vocal talents to bless the couple and viewers with a special rendition. Lott’s Ana sang “Amazing Grace” at Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) funeral, and we would love to hear her beautiful voice mark this far happier occasion.
As for Neil, expect to hear references to him as Devon prepares to look forward to his future. Things with Abby will likely differ from Devon’s previous marriage and relationship with Hilary and later Amanda (both Mishael Morgan). James said that Devon has learned the importance of being open and honest after those relationships.
