It looks like CBS is doing a soap-star swap, as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Courtney Hope will be joining The Young and the Restless. The red-haired fan-favorite posted a photo of herself wearing and holding some YR swag while telling us the news.
Courtney Hope Makes The Switch
“This seems like a good fit….😏☕️” Hope posted on Instagram, including a photo of herself in a YR tee and holding a Crimson Lights mug. As viewers know, Crimson Lights has been a fixture on YR since 1994.
So, is Hope bringing Sally over to YR, or will she be playing a new character? There’s precedent for both options: Adrienne Frantz brought Amber to Genoa City after she left Los Angeles (BB’s locale). Sean Kanan did the same thing with the character of Deacon. While on YR, Amber reconnected with her pal Lauren (Tracey Bregman), then went on to establish new relationships, her greatest one being with Katherine Chancellor (the late Jeanne Cooper).
Deacon was thrust into a storyline with A-listers Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor (Eric Braeden) before returning to BB. While that could certainly happen in Courtney Hope’s case, another option would be to have her play a new character. John McCook has brought Eric to Genoa City, but veteran YR fans recall him as Lance Prentiss, the role he played on YR from 1976-1980.
It would make more sense for Hope to reprise Sally. She could connect with Lauren, as Amber did, and design a line of clothes that could be sold at Fenmore’s. Hope received lots of fan support after she was recently written off BB, showing that viewers love her portrayal of Sally, who has had to fight for everything she’s ever gotten.
Recently, both YR and BB returned to production following a hiatus due to coronavirus. The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
