CBS has announced that police drama S.W.A.T., the show that stars Shemar Moore, will air its series finale later this spring. While fans will be sorry to see it go, it does open up the Daytime Emmy winner’s schedule to make more appearances on Young and the Restless as Malcolm.
From Los Angeles to Genoa City
CBS has shared that S.W.A.T.‘s series finale will be broadcast on Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m. The show has had an impressive 7-season run. It stars Moore as Los Angeles Police Department Sargeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, head of S.W.A.T., which stands for Special Weapons and Tactics. They take on the toughest most dangerous cases.
Moore shared his thoughts on working alongside co-star Kenny Johnson, who plays Officer Dominique Luca. “It’s been one hell of a ride with you brother … Your spirit and soul .. and SUPERHUMAN STRENGTH always shines through in everything you do!!” More wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for your energy and love on this show for 7 wild seasons.”
While this means Moore may be adjusting to the idea of S.W.A.T. coming to an end, he’s prepared for the show ending before only to experience that cancellation decision be reversed. “SWATFAN we love making this show for you and we are gonna keep putting our ALL into making the best show possible!!” he said. “Keep tuning in every FRIDAY at 8pm, keep making noise, so we can continue to rock with you for seasons to come!! Nothing but LOVE.”
One role Moore will never say goodbye to is that of father to his daughter, Frankie. “My beautiful Mama taught me to ‘Leap and the net will appear’ and now I have the rest of my life with my lil’ miracle and the love of my life, FRANKIE … Mama, I’m gonna keep leaping!!!”
No word on what Moore’s next show will be but is there a better job to have in show business for a parent than to be on a soap opera? The schedules are great for moms and dads who want to be able to pick up their kids after school and to have days off to be there for their children’s activities.
Moore has dropped into Y&R to reprise on Malcolm on many occasions. He last appeared on Y&R less than a year ago when Malcolm was on the scene for the opening of the jazz lounge within the Genoa City Athletic Club, which honors his late brother Neil (Kristoff St. John). Might Shemar Moore make more Y&R appearances now that S.W.A.T. is coming to an end? Anything’s possible!
