Phyllis’ takeover of Newman has destroyed many of her relationships on The Young and the Restless. However, there’s one person who seems to have Phyllis’ back, and that’s her new friend Sharon.

Key Takeaways

  • Sharon and Phyllis have been enemies for 20 years.
  • Last year, the two women bonded while held captive by Martin.
  • After their kidnapping ordeal, Sharon and Phyllis became friends.
  • While Phyllis’ business takeover has made her a villain, Sharon is showing compassion for her pal.

A Friend In Need

Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) are one of Y&R’s unlikely rivalries-turned-friendships. Their feud began in 2005 when Phyllis had an affair with Sharon’s husband, Nick (Joshua Morrow). Since then, the women have been embroiled in an on-again, off-again rivalry, most of the time over Nick.

However, last year, things took an unexpected turn for the enemies. They found themselves in danger when held in captivity by Martin (Christopher Cousins). Sharon and Phyllis put aside their differences as they worked together to survive and escape the facility.

After their rescue, Sharon and Phyllis leaned on each other for support and formed a friendship. But recently, Phyllis has gotten on everybody’s bad side thanks to her takeover of Newman Enterprises. She’s already became an enemy of The Newmans and ruined her relationship with her children.

Yet, Sharon is the one person who is showing kindness to Phyllis. During a recent conversation, Sharon admitted she was disappointed in Phyllis’ actions but still considered her a friend.

Sharon and Phyllis’ friendship still being intact made many Pharon fans happy. “I want this friendship to last, they really could be good friends,” one poster wrote on a soap opera forum.

“I am glad TPTB have re-established that Phyllis and Sharon bonded and are friends. Hope the writers draw on the chemistry of these actresses,” one fan replied.

“She and Phyllis have bonded. Sharon will be there when Phyllis loses all she stole. She may be the one who doesn’t treat Phyllis like dirt on the bottom of her shoe,” wrote one viewer.

Breakthrough

Phyllis has been stubborn in her refusal to give up control of Newman. However, Sharon’s talk might have the redhead rethinking her decision.

During their talk, Sharon reminded Phyllis that although she has power, she’ll lose something greater: her kids. Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer (Allison Lanier) are Phyllis’ world, and it hurts that her children have turned their backs on her.

Phyllis seems to be coming around to the idea of returning Newman after her latest discussion with Cane (Billy Flynn). He offered to help smooth things over between her and Daniel, in exchange for Chancellor. Phyllis agreed to the deal, but one must wonder if she’ll keep her end of the bargain.

Phyllis’ rise to the top might crumble as fast as it began. She stands to lose a lot because of her actions, and at the end, she’ll need support from a dear friend.
