For a few weeks now, Sharon has absolutely not been herself on The Young and the Restless. A while ago, she mentioned to Nick that she was adjusting her medication, but as time went by, her entire family began to suspect she hadn’t been taking her bipolar meds.

Sharon Case recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest, and she revealed something surprising about the case of Sharon and her medication. It seems Sharon might have purposefully chosen to stop taking the pills, especially after her doctor changed them up.
“I can understand that after so many years of being on them, you kind of want to explore who you are and how your life appears to you without that veil of the meds,” the actress said.
In fact, Sharon may be operating under the idea that, unmedicated, she can confront parts of her grief she never fully processed. Not only that, but she may accept that Cameron (Linden Ashby) is with her forever. On some level, Sharon realizes he’s dead, so she knows that he can’t really hurt her or her family ever again (or can he?).
Of course, Sharon does have to be careful what she tells her family because they’d likely be very concerned if she explained that she and Cameron regularly talked. While they know she sees Cassie (Camryn Grimes), there’s something different about her back-and-forth with Cameron.
Will these hallucinations actually serve to help Sharon heal? Only time will tell. Of course, being off her medication could have far-reaching complications for her, and she might not be able to handle the situation for that much longer.
