Even Nick, Faith, and Mariah have realized that all is not right with Sharon on The Young and the Restless. But they still don’t know exactly what is happening with her. For viewers, Sharon is obviously plotting something, and it has, at least in part, to do with her guilt and grief over losing Cassie. In the meantime, viewers have also been wondering what the point of Mariah and Tessa adopting little Aria was if we never see either moms or baby. But what if those two stories are about to come together…in the most horrifying of ways?
Past Imperfect
Sharon (Sharon Case) has so much guilt over her children. She gave Cassie (Camryn Grimes) up for adoption and didn’t even know Mariah (Camryn Grimes) existed until she was an adult. Sharon raised Noah (Rory Gibson) and Faith (Reylynn Castor) while she and Nick (Joshua Morrow) kept making up, breaking up, and marrying different people. Faith has lost a kidney and has been kidnapped multiple times on Sharon’s watch.
In other words, Sharon thinks she’s been a terrible mother. Nothing proves that more than Cassie’s death. Sharon is desperate to make up for that. She is desperate to raise at least one child “right.” (She almost had it when she thought Christian was her child, but that didn’t work out, either.) Sharon needs a do-over.

Baby Mine
Mariah and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) adopted a baby girl. They worried that she’d be deaf, so she got a cochlear implant. And they all lived happily ever after.
We think. We hardly ever see the three of them together. We wonder why they introduce a baby into the story only to do nothing with her. We think we know now so that Sharon can kidnap Aria.

The Best of Everything
Aria is the perfect child Sharon can get a fresh start with. Just Sharon and baby Aria (she may need to change that name), mommy and baby against the world. This time, Sharon won’t make any mistakes. This time, she’ll protect her daughter. No new kidneys, no car accidents, no kidnappings. Except for the one Sharon will commit. But that’s OK. It’s for the best. For everyone.
