The Young and the Restless alum, Sasha Calle, packed up Lola’s food truck and flew out of Genoa City after being cast as Supergirl in the Flash movie. Now, there’s news of a big casting decision that might make it easier for Calle to carve out some time to reprise Lola Rosales.
Sasha Calle: New Krypton
Deadline reported that the DC Universe has cast a new actress to play Supergirl. Milly Alcock (Game of Thrones) is taking on the part of the Maid of Might known in the comic book world as Kara Zor-El, cousin to Superman.
What’s up next for Calle? She’s set to share the screen with movie star Jacob Elordi in the upcoming film On Swift Horses. She’s playing the role of Sandra. The film tells the story of a young husband and wife; one of them gets caught up in gambling on horses, finding a new love in the process. Could a return to Genoa City be in store now that production on On Swift Horses is completed? Anything’s possible.
Kyle and Lola: Reunion of the Year
Let’s not forget that it was not all that long ago that Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola’s wedding was being celebrated as a huge event! The couple’s union hit the skids due to a variety of issues, notably Kyle’s unresolved feelings for Summer (Allison Lanier). Kyle and Summer have since split so perhaps now is the time for Calle to reprise Lola and visit Genoa City.
If she were to do that, Lola could check in on former sister-in-law Sharon (Sharon Case), who was married to Lola’s late brother Rey (Jordi Vilasuso). Calle’s not the only actress who played Supergirl to have a role on Y&R. Actress Helen Slater, who played the title role in the 1984 film Supergirl, appeared on Y&R as Dr. Chiverton in 2014.
There are rumors that Supergirl is going to pop up in Superman Legacy, which is set to begin filming shortly before the character gets her own solo film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
Sasha Calle: Supergirl Legacy
Calle may not be playing Supergirl any longer but she’s immortalized in the role not only on film but she also was made into an action figure by the producers of Barbie. “There’s a [Barbie] that looks like me,” Calle wrote. “I don’t know how to act. I’ve been taking her everywhere…flying around and imagining laser eyes haha.”
