On the Tuesday, October 22 episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis went off on one of her typical rants about how her beloved family is falling apart, and she feels helpless to fix it, and, oh, why doesn’t anyone recognize her pain in all this? Phyllis was upset that she couldn’t get Daniel out of trouble. But when it comes to Lucy…why, what if there is something Phyllis can do for Lucy?
Mother Load
Heather (Vail Bloom) raised Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant), and Lucy called her “mom.” But Heather is not Lucy’s biological mother. Now, as Lucy cries about never seeing her mom or eating her peanut butter and banana sandwiches, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) could get yet another of her brilliant ideas (hat-tip: Blair Warner from The Facts of Life).
Until Phyllis forces Sharon (Sharon Case) to confess to killing Heather — and, don’t get us wrong, that’s on the agenda. It just might take a little longer — then Phyllis can focus on something she can control: Cheering up sad, abandoned Lucy. Sure, telling Lucy the story of Phyllis’ thrilling, exciting, and, let us not forget, blameless and exemplary life, didn’t do the job as Phyllis expected. But, now how about this.

Out of the Past
Lucy lost her mommy? Grandma Phyllis will get her a replacement. (Like a puppy!) She could try to hook Daniel up with someone else and force that new woman to play a motherly role in Lucy’s life. Lily (Christel Khalil) would seem like the most likely suspect.
However, Phyllis is currently mad at Lily for wanting to remove Billy (Jason Thompson) from a position where he can give Phyllis a job. So Phyllis is not about to do Lily the great favor of letting her become Phyllis’ daughter-in-law.

Remember Me?
So Phyllis will go with a mother Lucy can’t reject. Her biological mother, Daisy. Sure, Daisy was a lunatic, a criminal, and a liar. So, you know, just like Grandma? Won’t Lucy be happy to have a replacement mom? And won’t she be grateful to her favorite grandmother for making it all possible?
