The Young and the Restless Performer of the Month for December: Michelle Stafford

Published by

December on The Young and the Restless featured movement in the case against Sharon, and Phyllis wasn’t happy about that. She made sure the entire town knew it. Meanwhile, two supervillains were responsible for much mayhem. Their machinations escalated at the end of the month.

The Nominees

Audra Charles has started to show growth, and Zuleyka Silver is handling her character’s development nicely. In December, Audra supported Nate’s search for his brother instead of focusing on getting another job. But Audra’s dinner with the Winters is where the actress really shined. As she listened to the Winters talk about family and legacy, she couldn’t stop the tears. We loved seeing this new side of Audra.

Ray Wise is brilliant in everything he does, and it’s no different on this return trip to Genoa City. As Ian soaked up all the information he learned from eavesdropping at Society, Wise’s devilish sparkle lit up even more. His scenes with Colleen Zenk’s crazy Aunt Jordan were always fascinating. Now, Ian is branching out to terrorize more GC citizens. We’ll be watching.

Susan Walters plays a character that almost everyone in GC despises. Diane is constantly on the defense. Most recently, she and Jack (Peter Bergman) went on the offense to help save Kyle (Michael Mealor) from Victor (Eric Braeden). She’s had to deal with the fallout, which involved long conversations with her son, who she thought had forgiven her. Walters’ key scene here happened on Christmas Eve when she gave Kyle the pages from her journal. It was Emmy-worthy.

The Top Spot

Speaking of Emmy-worthy, Michelle Stafford is the reigning Daytime Emmy winner for Lead Actress. In December, she proved she might collect another one in 2025. And, here, fans voted her the December Performer of the Month.

As Phyllis, Stafford led with her protective Mama Bear side. Her son reeled from losing Heather (formerly Vail Bloom) and almost going to jail. And so she’s going to make sure Sharon (Sharon Case) pays for it. Whether she’s guilty or not. At the same time, Phyllis is hurt that nobody listens to her. Not her friends, not her enemies. Heck, much of the time, her family doesn’t either. But the unhinged side of Phyllis is flaring. This means that she will do whatever it takes to get the justice she thinks her family deserves.

Stafford knows Phyllis inside and out, and she continues to be an acting force of nature.
