Corbin Bernsen may be best known for playing Arnie Becker on L.A. Law or Roger Dorn in the Major League movies, but daytime fans know he has a rich history with soaps being the son of the late, great Jeanne Cooper (The Young and the Restless’ Katherine Chancellor).

Inspiring Words From Corbin Bernsen

He’s also appeared on General Hospital as Carly’s dad John, and played Father Todd (Paul’s brother) on YR. He even was on Ryan’s Hope back in the day!

The actor took to his Facebook page to lament about the troubles he sees in the world and his hope that things change.

“I’m heartbroken today as I look out over a glorious Monday morning, sun shining bright from my perch in the hills looking across Los Angeles,” he wrote. “The single thought running through my head is “why,” why do we treat each other with such contempt, dislike, and sometimes hatred? We share this tiny postage stamp planet in one corner of the Universe, or, if you’re so inclined to believe, a magnificent planet that God created for us alone, in His single Earth under Heaven – but either way you choose to look at this place, we are on this globe together.”

Bernsen talks about the way people are different, be it gender, the color of one’s skin, languages, and cultures, or even in the way people worship God or a different greater power.

“I see beauty in those differences, experiences to learn, foods to taste, languages to learn so that I may get to know my brothers and sisters of this world better, and grow from that and expand on this gift God has given to me,” Bernsen said. “This magnificent gift of life. Yes, I’m disheartened this morning as I look out at the beauty, as I’ve said here often before, and where I see what connects me to each of you, is too often what divides us from one another.”

He prays that people find a way to resolve their differences or put them aside, learning from one another and making life better for everyone.

The actor understands that his comments are going to attract the usual opposition and that just proves his point that there is too much division amongst people today.

“I see them for what they are, hollow shouts of opposition that come from something learned, not created by God or Nature,” he wrote. “Our natural, God-given gift is love. Anything else is man-made and rings untrue. Stay safe. Choose Love today.”
