Young and the Restless’ New Supercouple? Melissa Ordway Spills On Devon And Abby

Devon’s recent proposal surprised Abby on The Young and the Restless. Despite not expecting it, Abby quickly said yes, but she did have some doubts, which she discussed with her mom, Ashley. Soap Hub recently spoke to actress Melissa Ordway, and she explained how Devon and Abby are meant to be while teasing an intriguing storyline coming up for the duo. It looks like Y&R may have a powerful new supercouple on its hands.

Power Couple

Abby had a video chat with Ashley (Eileen Davidson), who is in Paris getting treatment for her DID. “I feel like Abby has had a lot of love in her life, but she’s been very unlucky in love,” Ordway explained. “Some by the men that she’s picked and some by her own doing.”

Ordway explained Abby felt some nerves, which is why she turned to Ashley. “I feel like she’s just nervous that she’s gonna mess it up. Devon [Bryton James] has been her best friend for so long. So it’s like not like if, if something goes wrong like, he’s the father of her son, he’s her best friend. It’s not like it’s a relationship where they can kind of just move on from one another and just like, ok, we’re done with this, and it didn’t work out.”

Devon and Abby not working out would be devastating to Abby since they’re so connected through Dominic. “I think talking to her mom and talking with someone and just be like, ‘ok, you know, like this is how I’m feeling. Tell me that I’m wrong for feeling this way.'” Which is precisely what Ashley did. That conversation seemed to ease Abby’s fears of making another mistake in love.

Of course, because she respects her mom’s opinion so much, Abby and Devon will wait to tie the knot. “Absolutely. Abby can’t get married without Ashley,” Ordway said.

She expects this relationship to be different for Abby than those in her past because Abby and Devon are best friends. They aren’t afraid to tell each other if they’re doing the wrong things.

Plus, they have the added benefit that many Newman children don’t have. Victor (Eric Braeden) approves. “If you got Victor’s approval, then you’re all set,” Ordway quipped. “Neil [Kristoff St. John] was Victor’s best friend,” she explained. “Neil and Ashley had a special connection. Neil was Abby’s Godfather.” Plus, Devon and Abby “have been in each other’s lives forever, and I feel like they just match really well. I just feel like the families go well together.”

If that’s not enough, Ordway also let Soap Hub know that she was getting a vibe about Devon and Abby’s next professional moves, too. “I think Abby and Devon are conquering their love story together, and I think they might be conquering some business things together.” Potentially with Winters, so that is something big to watch out for.
