The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford, who recently revealed what she submitted on her Daytime Emmy reel, found herself confounded when there was an unfortunate corpse in her pool. She tried to take care of the situation but found it daunting.
On April 24, Y&R’s Michelle Stafford, who plays the scheming Phyllis Summers, posted a crazy video on Instagram, captioning it, “#ratsinapool #snakesonaplane ENJOY 🤢🤮.” The video followed her as she walked out to her swimming pool to deal with a rat that had found its way into it and subsequently drowned, which definitely had Stafford rat-tled. The person filming the video said in a grossed-out voice, “It’s so hairy!” Grabbing a large plastic bag and skimming pole, Stafford tried to be reassuring by remarking, “It’s done. It’s just a dead thing.” She motioned to indicate that she’d be taking the body from the pool and said, “When I pick that up, the weight of it…” and the person filming groaned and continued the thought: “Ugh! It’s gonna be so heavy!” describing how the bag would feel with the dead rat in it.
Stafford then approached the side of the pool and turned to the camera, muttering with her hand over her mouth, “I don’t want to do this,” and uncomfortable giggling ensued. She successfully pulled the tiny corpse from the water and then turned to the camera, saying, “I have to, like, touch it. He’s folded,” meaning that the net at the end of the pole had wrapped around the tiny dead thing. After slapping the net onto the bag, unsuccessfully dropping the rat into it, a clearly skeeved-out Stafford refused to get close to it. She stated, “This is not fun. Okay, I can’t finish this,” and walked away, presumably to get someone else to complete the nasty deed.
Her former co-star on General Hospital, Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), responded, “Omg omg omg.” Many of her followers felt that if they were in the same situation, they’d be running in the opposite direction. One sourpuss who didn’t find the scenario amusing at all replied, “There is nothing funny about a dead animal.” This started a long thread where others chimed in to explain that it was vermin, and Stafford wasn’t the one that killed it in the first place.
Another fan’s simple response was, “Throw the whole pool away 😂.” Y&R’s Greg Rikaart (Kevin Fisher), responded with, “I would have been zero help to you if I was there 😳,” with a follower reacting, “@gregrikaart well now we all know who not to call 😂.”
It looks like Stafford’s going to have to work hard to ensure the pool is squeaky clean, as a follower remarked, “I hope you added a ton of chlorine in the pool after that😣.” Some fans pointed out that it was better she found it in the pool instead of playing a game of hide-and-squeak with it in the house.
Hopefully, Stafford will consider putting catfish in her pool to prevent any further rodents from playing the Fast and the Furriest in it!
