The soap genre is one of the most stable in the entertainment industry. However, there are times when actors are taken off contract. Such is the case for Melissa Ordway. She confirmed that she won’t be as much on The Young and the Restless as she used to because she moved to recurring status. Thankfully, she has a new gig in the works.
Returning To TV
Ordway shared an update with Y&R fans. She announced her return to the small screen. Ordway secured a new role in an upcoming episode for Blue Ridge. Season 1 is available to stream on Roku, Sling TV, and Peacock. Blue Ridge is a television series that follows Sheriff Justin Wise (Johnathon Schaech) as he has to protect the small-town community before criminal forces get to it. By the sounds of it, Ordway has secured a role in another drama.
She posted a series of photos from her time on the set in a new Instagram post. The first shot featured her with the cast. For their Shakespearean episode, Ordway wore a medieval costume. She got silly with her co-star, Jesse Hutch. Both of them looked open-mouthed at the camera. Ordway also cozied up to Gary Wheeler and Amor Owens.
She teased the details of her new television gig. Ordway rounded out her post with a shot of the director’s chair that featured her character’s name, “Janey.” A script sat in the seat. In the post, Ordway wrote, “‘To be, or not to be, that is the question”…. 🎭Thankful to be a part of this super fun episode of #BlueRidge.” It was her second day on set. Y&R fans are excited to see her thriving outside of the daytime soap.

Many fans echoed the same sentiment in the comment section. They hope that Ordway will return to the show in some form. One user commented, “So happy for you enjoying what you love doing. I pray doors will open for you and possibly return to Y&R.🙌🙌❤️❤️” Another fan shared, “You are so missed by Y&R fans.”
Meanwhile, other fans were shocked to learn that Ordway was filming in Charlotte, North Carolina. One user wrote, “Awe, I hope you are enjoying our town!!” to which Ordway responded, “Love it!❤️”
