Melissa Ordway Sets The Record Straight On Young and the Restless

Melissa Ordway spoke out about the “breaking news” regarding her future with The Young and the Restless. She previously revealed to fans that she was off-contract but didn’t think her current status would make headlines. Ordway explained the situation in greater detail.

Ordway caught wind of the attention she received. She held a Q&A with fans on her Instagram Stories. The actress who plays Abby Newman explained why she chopped off her signature golden locks. She was free to change up her hairstyle since she was off contract.

That’s when Ordway explained that she’s taking on other acting roles, which means she has more free time outside the CBS soap. Y&R fans freaked out over this reveal, and some questioned Abby’s place in Genoa City. 

Breaking Her Silence

On Thursday, November 15, Ordway responded to the overwhelming response she received on social media. She also noticed that she had made headlines recently. In a new video posted on Instagram, Ordway set the record straight about her role.

At first, she thanked the Y&R fans for their love and support. She didn’t expect to receive so many messages. Ordway also didn’t expect it to become headline news. 

“I honestly was not expecting the reaction that I woke up to this morning with all the news outlets taking this story and running with it,” Ordway admitted. “Um, it is true. I am no longer on contract, but I am still on The Young and the Restless.”

High Hopes

Her role is in a “different capacity” moving forward. Ordway hopes that Abby and Devon (Bryton James) will have an “amazing love story” where they’ll continue to “make more babies.” She also hopes and prays the writers will write more stories for Abby in the future. 

Ordway made it clear that she still enjoys playing Abby. In fact, she wants everyone to watch Abby and Devon’s wedding. Once again, she thanked everyone for their support. Fans took to the comment section to react. Most are heartbroken over this news. 

“Mel Ordway, there would be a lot more boredom without you!!!!!” one fan declared. Another user noted, “We would definitely miss you if you left ❤️ ” 

“We need you as Abby! You are an awesome actor, ❤️❤️,” wrote a third fan. As you can see, the support Ordway received is overwhelming. The comments just keep pouring in. Hopefully, Abby’s story will continue in a larger capacity in the near future.
