Fan favorite Melissa Claire Egan, who plays Chelsea on The Young and the Restless, is sharing news of a deep, personal loss. The actress and her husband, Matt Katrosar, have had to say farewell to a beloved family member who’s traveled over the Rainbow Bridge.
Loving Sophia
“So very sad to share we had to say goodbye to our sweet Sophia yesterday,” Egan began in an emotional Instagram post. “And although we were so lucky to have 16 1/2 years with this special angel, it just never seems like enough time. We are heartbroken but also grateful.
“Sophia made me a Mom. She changed me forever,” the Daytime Emmy nominee continues. “So many of you knew and loved her. She was the best girl, so much personality, hated the mailman, and loved ‘getting the mail.’ She barked at any animal on the TV. And although she slowed down a lot the last year or two, she always had the most human eyes.
“She was our best girl, and I can’t imagine her not being here anymore,” Egan adds. “I know it’s part of life as a dog parent, but it hurts so bad. We will love you forever our sweet Sophie girl. And will see you again one day. Now go get that mailman.”
Egan has received supportive posts from her Y&R pals. “Oh honey, I’m so sorry. My heart breaks for you,” wrote Tracey Bregman (Lauren). “These angel babies come into our lives for just a short time but leave their lasting paw prints on our hearts forever. Sending so much love to you and your family.”
Catherine Bach, who plays Chelsea’s mother, Anita, shared, “Oh man…. What a darling dog Sophie was! I always laugh when I think of her reaction to me putting mail through the door! Such a maniac!! So fun!! Yes, she did make you a mommy, a great one! Gonna miss her.”
Soap Hub joins Egan’s pals in sending her and her family condolences at this difficult time.
