On the December 12 episode of The Young and the Restless, Lily filled Abby and Devon in on what her children, Mattie and Charlie, are up to now. It was nice to get the update, but even nicer would be for Lily and Cane’s twins to make their way back to Genoa City ASAP. Here’s why they’re needed.
Genoa City is sorely missing a teen scenes. The youngest love story currently on the canvas is Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin). And they’re both out of college and working in the corporate world.
The youngest characters currently on the canvas are Dominic, who never says a word, the invisible Christian, and the often-seen Connor (Judah Mackey). Neither of them is ripe for a love story.

Two young people who could use a love interest are Faith (Reylynn Caster) and Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant). Wouldn’t Mattie (last played by Alexandra Stevenson) and Charlie (last played by Jacob Aaron Gaines) be a great addition for either of them?
And since the girls obviously outnumber the boys at this level, why not bring back Johnny (Paxton Mishkind), age up Connor and Christina, and throw Katie (Sienna Mecuri) into the mix while you’re at it? Now we have a teen scene!

Sure, Katie, Connor, Faith, Johnny, and Christian are all related. That’s why Charlie and Mattie are so necessary. The pair up possibilities are limited as long as everyone is somehow connected to the Newmans.
They can’t all be dating Lucy, the one non-Newman in the bunch. Charlie and Mattie would generate many more possibilities. Surely, one of them will have to work! (And by work, we mean be a total, toxic, horrible disaster…just like we like our soap opera love stories.)
