Lauralee Bell, the Emmy-winning creator/actress/producer/director, has portrayed Christine “Cricket” Blair for 41 years on The Young and the Restless, the number-one-rated daytime drama for 35 years and counting. She posted the latest in her series of videos on her Instagram to thank the show’s fans for keeping them number one.
Bell once again serves as producer/writer/director. Bell and Michael Damian, who portray Cricket and Danny, the soap supercouple who reunited this year, began in the 1980s when Lauralee was still a teen, and Michael was barely out of his teens. They will be featured in the New Year’s Eve episodes airing on CBS on December 30 and January 2.

Bell enlisted Damian, his on-screen son Michael Graziadei, who portrays Daniel Romalotti, Allison Lanier (Summer Newman), Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin), Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin), Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott), Peter Bregman (Jack Abbott), Susan Walters (Diane Jenkins Abbott), and a host of extras from the New Year’s Eve shows for this video.
Bell chose Neon Trees’ Everybody Talks as the soundtrack for this video, but if you ask her, the song actually chose her!
As Bell said, “Since Michael Damian and I are in the New Year’s shows on The Young and the Restless, airing on Dec. 30 and January 2, and we get to work with some of our favorite long-time castmates, we had to do something extra special to wish the show’s loyal fans a Happy New Year to thank them for their continued support. Sometimes, I come up with a concept for these videos first, but this time, I was out walking our pups and heard Everybody Talks by Neon Trees, and it instantly clicked how perfectly it worked for the New Year’s shows.“
She continued, “The usual suspects in these videos expect me to grab them to do strange stuff on camera between shots, but this time, I had to run up to Peter Bergman and Susan Walters and say, ‘Trust me on this one, I promise it will be cute!’ We had so much fun doing these scenes and this video, and you can definitely tell from the group shots at the end! This time, I also included some of our wonderful, hard-working extras because they are always great too. Happy New Year to all!”
Bell is the creator of multiple digital series, in addition to her Instagram videos, which take fans of Y&R behind the scenes to thank them for 51 years of loyalty to the show that her late parents, William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, created. Bell has also starred in several Lifetime movies through the years.
