Recently, on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, Veronica Mars actress Kristen Bell suddenly name-dropped former The Young and the Restless star Darcy Rose Byrnes.
Reefer Madness Revival
Kristen Bell was on Kimmel to promote her new Netflix comedy, Nobody Wants This. During the interview, the conversation turned to a musical she produces called Reefer Madness: The Musical. It’s currently in production in Los Angeles. Bell was a part of the cast 25 years ago in New York City, so she considers this a full-circle moment for her.
While telling the story of why the producer suddenly had to step in for one of the roles, she name-dropped the actress who’s starring in the same part she played 25 years ago. And it just so happens to be Darcy Rose Byrnes. Bell says she “could not be more perfect” in her role as Mary Lane. Y&R fans know Byrnes best as one of the young Abby Newmans. In fact, she played Abby from 2003 to 2008.
Now, Byrnes is one of the leads in the 2024 revival of Reefer Madness, which is a racy musical about two clean-cut kids who fall prey to the madness of marijuana. The 90-minute immersive experience is set to end its run in early October. In addition to Bell, the Reefer Madness: The Musical producers also include actors Alan Cumming and Christian Campbell.
