Everybody wants a piece of Chancellor Industries on The Young and the Restless. In the July 31 episode, Billy added his name to the logo and assumed that he and Lily were equal partners. Victor made plans to take over and put Nikki in charge. Devon and Nick assured Victor they were on his side, and not too long ago, Jill washed her hands of day-to-day operations. This means it’s the perfect time for…Chance’s revenge.
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Now, why would Chance (Conner Floyd — who did this fun BTS) want revenge on the lovely, wonderful, generous, beloved Newmans? It couldn’t be because Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) cheated on him and is now engaged to marry Dominic’s biological father. You know, the guy who was only supposed to be the sperm donor while Chance was the actual hands-on dad?
And it couldn’t be because Victor (Eric Braeden — who recently had some big praise) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) are helping themselves to the company built up by Phillip Chancellor II, Chance’s biological grandfather, and Chance’s name hasn’t even come up in their calculations. It couldn’t be because all of Genoa City has ignored, marginalized, and patronized Chance since the moment he came to town.
Behind the Scenes
What if Chance has been the one pulling the strings all along? What if he’s the one who manipulated Billy (Jason Thompson) into the absolutely insane idea to add Abbott to Chancellor, which Chance knew would piss off Victor, who would then make an ill-advised move at a takeover, and the two would fight it out among themselves…while Chance swooped in from the site and picked up the pieces?
Sure, we haven’t seen him do any of this. But we also haven’t seen him do much of anything. He is just as likely to be scheming as not. And we are so desperate for something interesting to happen in Genoa City that we’re willing to buy any plot twist as long as it’s a good one.
