All hail Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless after the July 2 episode. He always wins, and nothing ever gets past him! When Michael and Cole dared to protect him from the consequences of kidnapping and keeping a woman prisoner, Victor fired them both for not putting him first. (And Cole doesn’t even work for him! He’s fired anyway!) When Jack dared help Victor’s alcoholic wife with her recovery and didn’t ask Victor’s permission, Victor threatened him to stay away from Nikki. And then put together his most brilliant, diabolical plan yet.
Jabot is a cosmetics company. And the best way to bring down a cosmetics company is via another cosmetics company. So Victor (Eric Braeden) helped Audra (Zuleyka Silver — who made a major change) take Glissade away from Tucker (Trevor St. John) and then announced that she’d be getting a co-CEO with the brilliant Kyle Newman (Michael Mealor).
Kyle had just quit Jabot in a huff when his mommy wouldn’t let him do whatever he wanted at work, so he was ripe for the picking. Now all the pieces are in place to make Jack (Peter Bergman) sorry that he ever put his life on the line for Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott).
Except Victor has an order for Kyle and Audra: No one is to know that he is involved with Glissade. They are to keep their connection a corporate secret; you got that?
We found it odd, though, that Victor is so committed to discretion that he is holding this meeting about how no one is ever to connect the dots between them…in a public park. And not just any public park, the public park where everybody goes. And not just anywhere in this park, but at the one bench where everybody stops to have profound conversations.
Victor held the meeting at the park where Claire (Hayley Erin) takes Harrison (Redding Munsell) to play. What if Harrison tells Summer (Allison Lanier) he saw Daddy with a Great-Grandpa Mustache? It’s the park where Devon (Bryton James) takes Dominic. What if he sees Audra with Victor and mentions it to Nate (Sean Dominic)?
We know that we are not financial geniuses like Victor. How do we know? We would have had a secret conversation in, you know, secret. Clearly, Victor is way ahead of us. We can’t wait to be proven wrong while Victor is proven right, as usual. What do you think? Did Victor make a tactical error on today’s show when he met Audra and Kyle in public?
