The Young and the Restless viewers are getting an extra treat on today’s Thanksgiving-themed episode. Judith Chapman is reprising her role as Gloria Fisher. Viewers know that her son Michael has been helping her out off-camera. Hopefully, all will be explained.
Judith Chapman: Back As Gloria
“It’s like we haven’t missed a beat,” Chapman told TV Insider about reuniting with her Y&R family and working together. As you can see in the Instagram photo, it’s a true family holiday as Michael (Christian Le Blanc), Lauren (Tracey Bregman), Kevin (Greg Rikaart), and Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) all gather at Society for the big day. Chapman reports there were “lots of hugs, how are yous?”
Catching up with her Y&R pals didn’t deter from the serious matter of getting the job done. Chapman says the director commented that the actors did their scenes in one take. “Did you expect anything else?” the actress said with a smile.
A Thanksgiving Preview
“I don’t want to tease too much, but I was really pleased with [the episode],” she adds. “It reminded me of the earlier days when Gloria started to show her comedic side.”
Asked about Gloria’s evolution over the years, Chapman quipped, “Things have gotten worse!” On a more serious tone, she shared, “After her latest escapade, all will be found out! The family isn’t happy to see Gloria. She’s not getting any turkey until she comes clean and shares why Michael has been gone for so long.
Judith Chapman: Sizing Up Gloria
“All [Gloria has] ever wanted is recognition, support, and power,” Chapman muses. “It’s wonderful to see her evolve. I always defended her relationship with John Abbott [the late Jerry Douglas]; she loved him, and he loved her. He showed her how to enjoy the better things in life. He appreciated her silliness. I’m forever grateful for Gloria. Actors look for those roles where you can dig deeper and find those added levels of humanity.”
The actress also told Soap Opera Digest that she’ll be returning pretty soon. “They called me a few days later and said, ‘Come back!’ ” she shares. “So I guess I’m being dragged out of the mothballs for the big holidays. We just shot some scenes last week, which are going to be beautiful — and that’s all I’m saying about it.”
