In a shocking revelation, Joshua Morrow would love to see his The Young and the Restless character hook up with a woman from Los Angeles. The Bold and the Beautiful character he envisions being swept off her feet would certainly be unique, unexpected, and completely interesting.
The concept of a shared cinematic universe goes all the way back to the classic Universal horror films of the 1930s and 1940s that had monsters teaming up in various sequels and continuations. Crossovers are nothing new for soap operas, and most famously, ABC had some major crossovers between their sudsers All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital. CBS also did some impressive world-building with Y&R and B&B, with characters like Lauren (Tracey Bregman) still going from Genoa City to Los Angeles on occasion. Y&R’s Joshua Morrow (Nick) had a great idea that could not only revitalize his character, but also several others.
In a recent interview by Soaps, Morrow explained that fans are always asking what he’d like to see Nick do next, and considering his character’s been around the block several times in the 30 years he’s been on the show, he was always hard-pressed to come up with something he hadn’t done before. But this time, he had a solution that would blow everyone’s minds. “What I want to do is have a triangle that involves a cross-show couple. [That] would be pretty awesome if we connected the two shows with a pairing that was messy and in a triangle,” he stated.
Who would his choice of romantic partner be? Why, none other than Steffy Forrester, played by Jacqueline MacInnes Wood. “She’s a very beautiful woman and obviously very, very talented,” he explained, adding, “What man wouldn’t want to work with her? So that’s the storyline that I want to tell.” This would be a fascinating tale because both Nick and Steffy are ready for a change. He’s been between relationships (although maybe has something possible with Lily [Christel Khalil]), while Steffy’s relationship with husband Finn (Tanner Novlan) has been strained because of his killer bio-mom, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown).
We can already see sparks flying between Nick and Steffy, were their characters ever to meet up. All it would take is a business trip from one city or another to have their paths cross and watch the fireworks begin. These shows need to not only stay relevant to remain on the air, but they also have to continually be creative, and a prolonged relationship of characters between the two shows would definitely hold the fans’ attention and garner ratings for both series.
It’s a wonderful concept, and we’d love to see it implemented!
