Jordi Vilasuso Speaks Out On Leaving Y&R

Vilasuso took to Instagram to express his thoughts on his recent change at the CBS soap. He shared a photo of himself as Rey with a beautiful, heartfelt caption.

“Playing Rey Rosales and being part of the Rosales family was a beautiful chapter in my career,” he revealed. “I was proud to represent my culture on daytimes #1 drama and work with an incredible cast and crew that I will miss dearly.

“Thank you @youngandrestlesscbs for always welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to tell stories that impacted millions,” he continued. “As this door closes, others will and have opened. If you’re interested in hearing a little more about my story, check out our podcast, @makingitwork where [his wife] @kaitlinvilasuso and share some more details of my exit and dig into embracing change!🙏❤️💪.”

Several of Jordi Vilasuso’s co-stars replied to the post. “You are so amazing @jordivilasuso I can’t wait to see what you do next!” wrote Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin).

Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor) chimed in with “We love you and your beautiful family.”

Noah Newman actor Rory Gibson wrote, “Thank you for being so welcoming brother 🤙🏼❤️ hope to see you around.”

Making It Work

In his podcast, Making It Work, he and his wife Kaitlin Vilasuso also discussed the situation, revealing that his last week of work was two weeks ago. He noted that he’d re-signed a three-year contract with Y&R back in October. However, he also explained that the contract had a clause where every six months the show could decide whether to continue with the contract or let the actor go.

“Maybe I should’ve seen the writing on the wall. The scripts that I was given have been very minimal,” Vilasuso said. His wife pointed out how surprising it was that the show had started a storyline between Rey and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), which seemed like things for Rey would change some.

Vilasuso said he appreciated being able to represent a Hispanic family in Genoa City when he first joined the soap, and he thanked those involved in bringing the Rosales family to life. He also revealed that his first audition involved Bregman instead of Case, and then he had a screentest with Case later.

Jordi Vilasuso said, “I have nothing but love for the show.” However, he’s also incredibly excited about what his future holds. Soap Hub wishes the veteran soap star the best in all his future endeavors.
