Young and the Restless’ Jason Thompson Gets A Gnarly Birthday Gift

Jason Thompson has been through a lot over the years while playing Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless. However, the actor experienced a wild incident off-screen and the resulting injury might rival a fair number of soap storylines he’s been through.

Soccer Injury

Recently, the Y&R star took to his Instagram page to reveal a jaw-dropping injury he received. He joked that he received the “perfect birthday present” just a few days before he turned 48 years old.

Thompson explained he was filming the video the day before his birthday. He quipped, “I got the perfect birthday present on Saturday afternoon.” He admitted that the “present” was the “perfect reminder that I’m getting a little long in the tooth.”

The injury happened as he was warming up to play adult-league soccer. Just 15 minutes into his warm-up, Thompson explained, he was “taking some shots on the goalie and pop! Felt it, heard it.” What Thompson felt was “Really, really uncomfortable,” and one glance at his thigh revealed why he’d felt that way. The actor showed that his entire inner thigh was bruised. “Look at this. I mean, purple all the way. Gnarliness,” Thompson exclaimed.

He shared that he had connected with his doctor after the incident, and joked, “What are you gonna do except take it as a lesson to be better?”

Injury Support

Thompson received a lot of support and birthday love in the comments section of his Instagram post.

His fellow Y&R co-star Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) wrote, “And you let me complain about my SHOULDER today?!!?!”

Christel Khalil questioned Thompson, saying he was turning 48 years old, although that was true.

Y&R co-star Michael Graziadei joked, “WTF!!! They gonna have to amputate.”

It appears Thompson will make a full recovery. Luckily, the bruising didn’t dampen his enthusiasm for his birthday. However, it did appear to be quite uncomfortable.
