Jamey Giddens’ New Soap Home

After Salem and Fairmont Crest, Giddens is ready to tackle the drama in Genoa City. Giddens and O’Connor are taking over the show’s head writing duties following Josh Griffith’s exit in June.

This is an exciting time not only for Y&R fans but also for Giddens. The writer recently gave fans a sneak peek at his new home at Television City on Instagram.

“@danjoc and I worked out of the late, great Bill Bell’s @youngandrestlesscbs office at Television City this past week. What an honor,” he captioned the post.

Giddens shared photos of him at the studio, including a cameo on the Chancellor Park Cafe set. He also shared a framed collage of Restless Style covers featuring Katherine (Jeanne Cooper), Victor (Eric Braeden), and Lily (Christel Khalil). Giddens also honored the show’s creators, William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, by posting their portrait.

Giddens is certainly grateful for his new soap home. It’s a huge honor and accomplishment for the writer, who’s had a remarkable journey.

Road To Soap Stardom

Giddens road to soap stardom began when he was a soap journalist. As the co-owner of Daytime Confidential, Giddens was responsible for reporting breaking news and dishing on the latest storylines.

Giddens soon went from writing soap news to writing for television. In 2019, he created the OWN series Ambitions. Although the show lasted only one season, it proved that Giddens had a penchant for writing drama.

By 2020, Giddens was hired as a breakdown writer for DAYS, and in 2025, he joined the BTG writing team. After his work on the two soap operas, he now faces his biggest job to date, Y&R co-head writer.

Giddens and O’Connor began their new tenure in August. Although fans won’t see their work air until later this fall, excitement is buzzing about the new writing duo. Wonder what drama the pair will have in store for Genoa City?
