The Young and the Restless star Doug Davidson has apparently ended his 40-year run in Genoa City.
The actor shared that he was taken off contract in January of this year. Now, a castmate has come forward to express sympathy to Davidson, while also pondering his own status with the show!
Corbin Bernsen, who recurs on the soap as Paul’s brother, Father Todd, tweeted support to Davidson, noting, “Well, it looks like the end of Father Todd too. I enjoyed our 15 minutes of TV brotherhood.”
The actor went on to theorize what his late mother, Jeanne Cooper (ex-Katherine), would think of all this.
“My mom might be screaming at angels right now in heaven. All I know is it’s pissing rain and she’s up there! Love you bro – see you on the winding road.”
Bernsen popped back up on the show in April last year. The character was used as a sounding board for others and officiated at various religious events in Genoa City.
Trivia buffs take note: Y&R wasn’t Bernsen’s only soap role. He played a pilot on As the World Turns in 1986.
His character flew Bob (Don Hastings) and Kevin (Steven Weber) to “Dream’s End” to rescue Kim (Kathryn Hays) and Frannie (Julianne Moore) from psychotic Douglas Cummings (John Wesley Shipp). He also played John Durant on General Hospital from 2005-2006.
Of course, as both actors are recurring players on the show, it’s possible that both will turn up again. Stay tuned.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
